Emergency Board-Up
When a storefront, door or window is broken, board-up protects the building from weather, theft and further damage until permanent glass is installed. We board up commercial openings the same day.
What happens when you call
Call any time
Tell us what broke, how big the opening is and whether the space is secure. A crew is dispatched to make it safe.
Secure the opening
Broken glass is removed and the opening is boarded up or temporarily glazed so the business is protected tonight.
Measure and replace
The opening is measured, permanent glass is ordered to size, and we come back to install it. Photos are provided for insurance.
When board-up is needed
Board-up is used whenever an opening is broken and the permanent glass is not immediately available: after break-ins and vandalism, storms and hurricanes, vehicle impacts, fires and other damage. It is also often required by insurance carriers to prevent further loss, and by cities when a vacant building has broken openings.
How we board up
- Remove broken and hanging glass safely and clean up the area
- Cut plywood or panels to fit the opening and fasten securely to the frame or structure
- Seal edges against weather where the opening will be boarded for a while
- Secure doors so the building can be locked, or leave a working entry where needed
- Photograph the damage and the board-up for the insurance claim
Board-up versus temporary glazing
Plywood is fast and strong but blocks light and visibility, which can hurt a business that needs to stay open. For storefronts where the permanent glass will take time to fabricate, temporary glass or clear polycarbonate can keep the space secure and open. We recommend the best option for the opening and the timeline.
Storm preparation
In hurricane regions, buildings without impact-rated glazing or shutters may need openings boarded before a storm. We can pre-cut and label panels for a building so they can be installed quickly when a storm approaches.

Emergency Board-Up questions
Do not see your question? Call and talk to a glazing specialist.
How fast can you board up my storefront?
The same day. Emergency calls are dispatched around the clock.
Does my insurance require board-up?
Most policies require you to take reasonable steps to prevent further damage, and board-up is the standard way. We document it for your claim.
Can you board up before a hurricane?
Yes. We can also pre-cut and label panels so they go up quickly.
Can the business stay open behind board-up?
Often, yes. We can leave a working entrance or use temporary glazing to keep visibility.
