Commercial Window Installation & Replacement
Old commercial windows leak air and water, fog up and drive up energy bills. We install and replace aluminum commercial windows with insulated low-E glass in offices, medical buildings, schools and mixed-use buildings.
Commercial window types
Commercial buildings use aluminum windows in individual punched openings, continuous ribbon windows across a facade, and window wall systems that span floor to floor. Windows can be fixed, or operable as casement, projected (awning or hopper), single-hung or horizontal sliding units. Most commercial windows are thermally broken aluminum with insulated glass.
Signs your windows need replacing
- Fogged or streaked insulated glass in many units
- Air leaks, drafts and whistling around the frames
- Water leaks at sills and corners
- Operable windows that no longer open, close or lock
- Condensation and frost on frames in winter
- High heating and cooling costs and uncomfortable perimeter offices
Replacement approaches
Windows can be replaced by removing the entire old frame and installing new windows in the rough opening, or by installing new frames over or inside the existing frames with trim to close the gaps. Full tear-out gives the best long-term result and lets us correct flashing problems, while retrofit methods reduce disruption and cost. We evaluate the existing conditions and recommend the right method.
Occupied buildings
Most commercial window replacements happen while the building is occupied. We sequence the work floor by floor or elevation by elevation, protect interiors, and close each opening the same day so tenants can keep working.

Commercial Window Installation & Replacement questions
Do not see your question? Call and talk to a glazing specialist.
Can windows be replaced while the building is occupied?
Yes. We sequence the work so each opening is closed the same day and protect interiors.
Do new commercial windows have to meet the energy code?
Yes. Replacement windows must meet the energy code adopted by the jurisdiction.
Can you replace only the glass in my windows?
If the frames are sound, yes. Failed insulated units can be replaced without replacing the frames.
What is the difference between a window and a storefront?
Windows sit in openings in a wall; storefront systems are ground-floor glass walls that often include doors.
